About
I have a bachelor's degree in English and a master's degree in education. I am certified in the state of West Virginia to teach English to grades 5-12, and in the state of Florida to teach English to grades 6-12.
I love to read, and I love to share that passion with my students. My teaching philosophy is that every day is a new day, and a new opportunity for success.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Rapport is the most important aspect when working with a new student. Getting to know the student, and letting the student become comfortable, is critical. When the student is comfortable, they are willing to ask questions and try without fear of getting the answer wrong. And as learning cannot truly occur without questions and wrong answers, students must be willing to accept that it is impossible to understand everything immediately (and that is normal and okay).
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's degree in English from Glenville State College and a master's degree in teaching from Shepherd University. I am certified to teach English in the state of West Virginia to grades 5-12 and to teach English in the state of Florida to grades 6-12.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a variety of students. The youngest being elementary aged students through Energy Express (a program through Americorps) and the oldest being 10th grade students as an English teacher in a title one school.
