About

I offer individualized reading and writing tutoring for grades k-5th that include. Tutoring sessions are designed to target your child's weaknesses and build upon their strengths.

I am an elementary school reading specialist in the area of Early Middle Childhood Literacy with certifications in Elementary Education and Specific Learning Disabilities. Over the past 25+ years, I have been a Reading Recovery teacher for at-risk first grade students, taught grades kindergarten, 1st and 2nd, and work with special needs children with learning disabilities in 1st - 7th grade.

I enjoy helping kids learn how to read. It's more than just helping a student sound out words, it's instilling the love for reading and writing. I love watching their faces light up when they have just read a book they weren't able to before.

    Words cannot describe how grateful we are to have found Mrs. Duck. She has help our son tremendously. Ryan started several levels below his age/grade with reading.     Mrs. Duck is such a wonderful reading tutor and without her help I’m not sure my son would have done as well in reading as he did when he ended first grade.
    My son started tutoring with her at the end of January with a reading level D. His goal was to end the school year with a reading level J, and with her help he succeeded!
    Mrs. Duck is so inviting and really makes your children feel comfortable when they come into her home to learn. She truly sparked an excitement for reading that my son never really had. We were so fortunate to have had her help in my sons journey in reading.

    Mrs. Duck was an amazing tutor for our niece. Mrs. Duck had a very structured way of learning how to read. Each week Mrs. Duck sent home a bag full of reading things to work on till next session. Our niece was very behind in reading when she entered 3rd grade. We did twice a week tutoring till the end of third grade. We saw a huge difference with school work and confidence with reading.
