Hello! I am a recent college graduate. I have been tutoring children for 8 years now, and have taught students in all subjects ranging from ages 4-19! I am certified with the American Youth Literacy Foundation (YouthLit) and have passed rigorous certification tests in the sciences, math, and reading comprehension. As an Educator I am aware that many students are statistically at least two grade levels behind in reading. Low literacy levels can wreak havoc on the ability to learn content, engage in higher-level thinking, and build interstitial background knowledge. As an educator, I believe in responsive instruction. Teaching is a pedagogy that recognizes and encompasses how knowledge is communicated and noticed by the students. As a teacher I build a good relationships with all students, have high expectations, learn about the student's culture and work with the student’s current curriculum in all grades including students with special needs.
