English And Literature Tutoring

About

English has been my passion from a young age and I have always wanted to share literature with others. In high school, I took every AP English course available and succeeded despite the challenging workload. I come from a family of teachers and my father taught high school American Literature which I, of course, easily fell in love with. Running the school newspaper was one of the highlights of my high school experience. I learned to write, edit, design, and photograph with many talented individuals. I received awards from the Florida Scholastic Press Association in the Off-Campus News Story and Feature Photography categories. Through journalism classes I was even fortunate enough to attend a Columbia Scholastic Press Association conference in New York City. I was also a student athlete running cross country and track, so I know the challenges of balancing schoolwork and athletic responsibilities. Often, I see student athletes exhausted and neglecting their schoolwork and I would love to help students in these cases through organization. I often helped my friends in high school by editing their essays and my red pen became known throughout my class for its insight and helpful advice. My other experiences include working as an intern for the Sarasota County Democratic Party where I worked in youth outreach and social events with local candidates. I also developed a pet therapy program in the memory care unit at a local nursing home where I provided emotional support for those suffering from various forms of dementia. My community service earned me an award in my home town of Bradenton, FL. In 2019 I was presented with the Golden Herald Award in social science. It was an honor to help those of my community and I am ready to extend my knowledge and services to the great city of Gainesville through tutoring.

The lessons that literature and poetry offer to society are endless. We can all learn something new from any text. Tutoring would give me a chance to, not only revise the work of others, but also to communicate the deeper meanings authors want us to hunt for. Analyzing text is one of my biggest strengths as a student and it has inspired me to major in both English and Criminology at the University of Florida here in Gainesville. As a college sophomore, I have already learned so much, and have gained plenty of knowledge to share.
