About
I recieved my B.S. in Biochemistry from Virginia Tech, with a minor in chemistry and a focus on plant molecular biology. Now, I'm persuing a PhD in Microbiology and Cell Science from the University of Florida. After finishing my teaching requirements for the department, I realized that teaching is an essential part of the academic environment. Creating a well-rounded, interactive, and fun teaching experience is my top priority, as everyone learns best when they are comfortable and invested.
Plants are my passion, and my current studies focus on plant immunology and defense. I use the principles of molecular biology, biochemistry, and bioinformatics to push my project forward and love sharing these subjects with my students. The progress we have made in the past 30 years in these topics is astounding, and we now understand the molecular workings of the world around us better than many people could imagine. Sharing this knowledge in a way that inspires, not frustrates, is key to preparing students to succeed in the world of science.
