Lewis Tutoring
About
I pay attention to how my students learn and incorporate that into the tutoring sessions. I have experience in the classroom and online teaching with students of all ages. I am now focusing on tutoring. Regardless of learning ability, I have been able to help my students improve, pulling other resources when necessary. I have a Masters in International Education. I have experience teaching English as a Second language, and my TEFL certification. I welcome input from my students and their parents. Learning should be fun! I not only teach the subject, but I also incorporate ways to remedy test anxiety.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I get to know the student and the way that they learn. I ask them what their concerns and goals are. I have them provide me with either an assignment, piece literature, essay they have written, etc. This will help me to see where they might be getting confused or any areas we to skill-build in.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Masters in International Education. I have my TEFL certification. During my time as a specialized paralegal, I was involved in course development and training. During my first year of teaching, I worked with classroom coaches to really sharpen my skills in the classroom. I am continuously researching teaching methods and ways to bring out my students' inner genius.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $50 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching Spanish to people who wanted to learn, while still maintaining my law job. Once I have my child, I wanted to be more accessible as a parent, so I change my career to education.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with gifted students. I have also worked with students who have learning disabilities. Some of my students have also been autistic. I have a very wide range when it comes to the types of students I have worked with.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Aside from tutoring, I love to dance. I started at age 3. When I had my son, I almost stopped. Recently, a very well-known choreographer was in town. I decided to see if I still had skills. I took my son with me. I love that I have started dancing again. But the best part was creating memories with my child.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
You want to take it seriously. You also want to communicate and all concerns to me. They also want to open to constructive advice. I'm here to help, and students should believe that. It's their one on one time to get the assistance they need.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Do I really understand what it is I need to do? Have I really put in the effort and tried my best? What specifically is it that has me confused?
