Jaime Perez

My name is Jaime Pérez, and I am a fully bilingual professional in English and Spanish, originally from Puerto Rico. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and a master’s degree in criminal justice, and I bring over ten years of professional experience as a law enforcement officer, along with extensive experience in instruction, training, and leadership across both educational and public service environments.

My teaching background includes experience in both ESL instruction in Puerto Rico and Spanish-language instruction, where I have worked with diverse learners to develop their skills in speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension. My ESL teaching experience has strengthened my ability to support English language acquisition among Spanish-speaking students, while my Spanish instruction has focused on helping learners build confidence and fluency in real-world communication.

In addition, I have served as an instructor in a Police Academy, teaching specialized courses to cadets and law enforcement professionals. This role has provided me with extensive experience in structured curriculum delivery, scenario-based training, and performance evaluation in high-stakes environments. It has also strengthened my ability to manage diverse learning groups, adapt instruction to different learning styles, and bring real-world application into the classroom—skills that translate effectively into both secondary and higher education settings.

Alongside my language teaching and instructional experience, my career in law enforcement has provided me with extensive real-world expertise in communication, critical thinking, discipline, problem-solving, and performance under pressure. Combined with my graduate-level education in criminal justice, this background allows me to integrate academic theory with practical application in meaningful and engaging ways.

What I enjoy most about teaching is helping students build confidence and communicate effectively in real-life situations. Whether teaching Spanish, English, or professional development topics, I focus on making learning practical, structured, and immediately applicable.
