I am graduating with my Bachelors from Florida International University in December, double majoring in Biology and Natural Science. My academic standing in FIU is a 3.93 Gpa, having taken Courses such as Biology 1 & 2, Chemistry 1 & 2, Cell Biology, Microbiology, Genetics, Histology, Intermediate Physiology, Organic Chemistry 1 & 2, Physics 1 & 2. I have worked as a Peer Lead Team Leaning instructor at the university for physiology and I have experience tutoring in group settings and 1 on 1 settings.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually ask for the hw needed to be done and any other materails given for the week. I ask the student if they have any questions on the material first. I then proceed to let them do it and review it with them. I ask them to do it in front of me so I can help facilitate efficient techniques and though processes.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I have a standard rate of $20 an hour.
The first sitting I like to get a feel for the materials as well as the student. The first 30 mintutes is not charged for this reason. If after 30 min both parties would like to proceed then my rate will be included starting this point.
I do up to 3 sessions a week 1-2 hours each sesion. Beyond 3 sessions will result in a rate of $30. We will schedule these sessions at the beginning of the week.
How did you get started teaching?
I started tutoring as a student at Florida International University.
What types of students have you worked with?
I mostly have worked with college students on their upper divisional courses.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I recommend that students ask their school teachers for outlines of upcoming materials that will be on the exam. We can plan out our tutoring sesions and tailor the tutoring program to the areas the students struggle in the most.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should take into account that we want to help and that no question is a bad question. We are here to help you succeed and we prepare you for course material you will even see in college !
