Academic Tutor
About
I began my professional career as an educator in 2012 as a tutor/after school care staff. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Special Education, I worked as a teacher in the elementary and middle school environments for about 4 years.
While I enjoyed my classroom full of students, I knew my talents truly shined and made the most impact in the one-on-one intructional environment. Therefore, I left my career as a teacher and obtained a master's degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis.
I am currently enrolled in a PhD program for certification in Psychology with emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis. I look foward to applying my advanced knowledge of human behavior and scientifically proven, evidenced-based practices for creating significant behavior change while assisting your educational journey.
My teaching philosophy is student centered. I believe the student learns most when instruction is tailor to personal needs and interests.

I will never forget the smile on the child's face as the story was told with perfect performance.

The student's opinion is the most important in the student/teacher relationship. My advice to student's looking for teachers is to express your wants and needs as a learner to find a teacher who can provide you the individualized assistance all students deserve.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Communicating personal needs is a challening task for most students. To help students approach this topic with teachers, I recommend the student describing a past lesson they really enjoyed or one they remember learning a lot from. Students should also talk about lessons and teacher interactions that did not go well. Past experieces can lead to the discovery of learning strategies for successful learning.
