About
I love teaching; it is my greatest passion. Tutoring allows me to work one on one with a student to help achieve his or her academic goals.
I am a certified Elementary (K-6) Educator. I have experience tutoring and teaching a variety of ages ranging from 5 to 19.
I make a great effort to prepare materials that will help build student knowledge and provide opportunties to challenge the students as well. I want nothing more than for my students to feel confident in their academic work. With that confidence comes a desire to learn more, and the sky is the limit.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to get an idea of what the student knows and what they need assistance with in the subject area. I typically make the first session for 30 minutes to get a feel for the student's work and for them to get to know me. I ask them questions regarding what they feel are their strengths. The following session is one hour, and begins to dive into the material.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a certified Florida Educator for grades K-6. I have just completed the Teacher Immersion Program through Florida Gulf Coast University, as I am a career changer. I am looking forward to completing my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Elementary Education by Fall 2019.
How did you get started teaching?
I began my college career studying education, but I chose to pursue Hospitality instead. After obtaining my B.S. in Hospitality Management and working in the industry, I knew my heart was not in it, like my heart was for teaching. I went back to school, taking the necessary courses to obtain my professional license through the Teacher Immersion Program. While I was back in school as a student, I found work as an instructional paraprofessional. Based on my work ethic and personality, I was offered a full time instructional teaching position in Kindergarten. My experience as a Kindergarten teacher provided me with so much knowledge. I enjoyed my time in the classroom, but I wanted to pursue tutoring to focus on making a positive impact on individual students through personalized instruction.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students ranging from Kindergarten through College. With these students, I have worked with some that required specific learning accomodations.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently heard from an old student of mine. She and her mother reached out to me to tell me about how she was doing in school. It warmed my heart that although I was not in her life anymore as a teacher, she still thought of me and missed me. I told her how proud I was of her and to keep up the hard work in school.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
When looking for a teacher, it is very important that you find someone that is going to suit your needs. There are some highly qualified teachers out there, but they may not fit well with you. Just like in school, you have teachers you like and respond well to and some you just cannot bond with well. When you have the choice to find a teacher to assist you in your studies, make sure you feel comfortable with that teacher.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Here is a list of some questions to consider before talking with someone about their needs:
1. How do I feel about this subject?
2. Have I struggled with this subject before?
3. What are my strengths? (Does not have to be regarding the subject, though that is helpful information too).
4. What are my expectations of having a tutor?
5. How do I feel about my teacher at school in this subject?
6. What do I want as a result of tutoring?
7. What kind of tutor do I want/need?
8. What steps should I take to be proactive with my learning?
