About
All our certified literacy teachers are trained in the "science of reading", and Orton Gillingham certified, they use approved programs by the International Dyslexics Assoc., such as, Wilson Intensive Reading program, Barton Reading & Spelling, Lindamood Bell LiPS, Lindamood Bell Visualizing & Verbalizing. Our tutors know the Simple View of Reading by researchers Tunmer & Gough-Decoding(phonics and phonemic awareness) X Language Acquisition (vocab, syntactical)=Reading Comprehension. I enjoy seeing the progress in the social/emotional side of the child as well as the academic growth through administering evidence-based interventions to my students. The progress the students make to grade level and beyond is an amazing experience for both the student and the tutor. Achieving literacy proficiency and comprehension is our goal. Education changes everything!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We assess the students if there is not any private Neuro-psychology or school psychologist report. Unfortunately, most likely the reason your child is struggling is because most elementary school teachers have not received the necessary training to teach students to Read (NCTQ 2019 report, Louisa Moats). Our specialists have extensive additional certifications in specific reading methodologies in the National Reading Panels report to Congress. These methods are the ones that will teach your child to read.
After we discover what areas are impeding the learning we address and target those deficits with proven evidence based interventions that will show an avg. of 24 Standard Score report increases. These interventions bring your child to grade level and beyond.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Masters in Reading, Reading Endorsement, International Dyslexia Assoc. Certified, Center for Effective Reading Certified. National Board Teaching credential, Wilson Dyslexia Specialist's, Phono-Graphix, Barton Reading & Soelling certiciation, Structured Word Inquiry, Institute for Excellence in Writing certified and Lindamood Bell trained.

Our tutors come from all areas of the country, to ensure I can offer the best trained, and certified professionals available.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We host many events in the community, our 501(c) 3, Decoding Literacy, has provided over $28,000 I'm multisensory Structured Literacy materials to our public schools.
Our Dyslexia, Learning and Support Group FL on FB, counsels and offers FREE support to parents attempting to navigate the public school system. We hold 4 trainings a year, with guest speakers to raise literacy and dyslexia awareness.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find an instructor with most experience in an effective evidence based program, who has been through a rigorous credentialing institution. Literacy is an investment that pays back dividends throughout your lifetime. Don't waste your time or money on tutors who do not have the proper training. We do all the vetting and guide you through the entire process. Once you sign on with iReading TUTOR, your child's self esteem will increase, school will become easier, your child's opportunity in life will expand and your family will get the answers they are looking for.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Teachers should always be open to listening to their students. Students need to be able to freely share their thoughts at anytime. The teachers job is to meet and exceed the needs of the student.
