About
My passion is helping others realize their dreams by providing the best prescriptive test prep programs. Each session is personalized to my client's learning styles, goals and academic issues. I created the ONLY complete, consistent and customized system of strategies and skills to ace the SAT and ACT offerred by a nationally-certified teacher and perfect scorer. My original SAT/ACT program is the most effective, efficient, engaging and entertaining way to acheive significant score improvements in 1/3 the time. I am also the only tutor who offers a truly holistic approach: I developed an in-depth questionnaire to create student profiles that allow me to provide free advice and plan a personalized process before we even meet for the first time; I teach test-taking techniques; I remediate all concepts (I am equally strong in all aspects of math and English); and I address attention/anxiety issues using brain-based practices. My college coaching services cover matching, admissions and readiness, including applications, essays, note-taking, and study skills.
Making a difference! I love having a positive impact on my students' lives. My clients have earned over $53M in scholarships and admissions to top universities. I recently had a student who is captain of her swim team jump from a 1200 on the SAT to a 1530 after just ten hours of tutoring and get offered $1.4M in scholarships, and another student who is the first generation in her family to go to college improve from a 21 on the ACT to a 32 after 18 hours of direct tutoring to earn a 75% scholarship to Boston University. Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It's important to find out if we're a good match. If you want to work with an expert to learn inside information and successful strategies, and you are willing to practice on your own, then we'll make a great team. The first step is for you to fill out the Questionnaire linked to the Free Consultation button on the homepage of my website. Then we can get started on strategy sessions: 3-4 two-hour sessions to cover math, reading, grammar and writing. In the meantime you'll do official practice tests and an error-analysis process so that further sessions are focused feedback based on specific questions and issues. You'll go into the tests feeling calm and confident, knowing you're relaxed and ready to transform pressure into your best performance.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a nationally-certified teacher with 20+ years teaching experience with a very diverse population and wide range of skills, abilities, goals and issues. I have consulted for test publishers, written curricula, designed programs, and achieved over 10 perfect scores on the SAT, ACT, and GRE and top 0.1% on GMAT.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$100/HR SAT or ACT or $150/HR GRE or GMAT within 30 miles of my home-office in Stuart 34994 or online. 25-50% additional travel charge depending on location.
How did you get started teaching?
Because I loved school and learning in any environment came naturally to me, I was a teacher's helper and peer tutor ever since second grade. I went to University of Miami on athletic and academic scholarships to study Biopsychology and focus on the body-mind connection, learning and motivation theory and brain-based research. I continued to tutor after graduating and working in the field of mental health. After that I taught infants through adolescents at a Montessori School. Then I obtained my teaching certification to work with at-risk students in low-income and high-crime areas, and later taught at a school of the arts.
What types of students have you worked with?
ALL kinds! While I don't see labels or use acronyms as identities, I am fluent in working with students of varying learning styles, backgrounds, skills, abilities, goals, and attention, anxiety or motivational issues: I have had great success with honor students in IB, AP, ACE and DE programs, athletes, ESOl, LD, IEP, and first generation students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently worked with the captain of the swim team at a local high school. She had gotten a 1200 on the SAT and was already being recruited by several respectable Division II programs. After just 10 hours of tutoring with me, she earned a 1530 (top 1% score nationally) and was offered over $1.4M in scholarships and admissions to Ivy League schools.
