Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I start with a tutoring a new student, I do a pre assessment from what I have learned about the student from the first conversation with the parent.
After the pre assessment, I then decided where the child needs extra practice with and bring materials based on the assessment.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am certified in K-6 all grades. I receive continuous trainings as a teacher.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $45 for the hour. $25 for half hour.
How did you get started teaching?
When I was younger (high school) I loved helping my nieces learn. So I chose to be a teacher when I went to college.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types. I have worked with English Language Learners and students with disabilities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The students that I have been tutoring for a year or more, their parents have told me how much more confidence they have in math now. I have seen their scores rise, as well as, their abilities.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a tutor in your area of expertise?
Look to see how your child will respond to the tutor. You want your child to be open to additional work, so there needs to be a great connection. Do not feel bad if you need to switch tutors because of a disconnect.
