Please note my speciality is 6th Grade Level and below. I am familiar with Common Core Math as well. When a child is struggling or behind in school, tutoring is a way to develop the skills needed in order to be successful for a lifetime of learning. Along with success comes self-confidence, which effects all parts of a person's life. With 19 + years of elementary level teaching experience ( full-time teacher in a public school, homeschooling, tutoring, subbing) under my belt I would love to assist your child in building the skills needed to be successful. I can help with homework and plan additional enrichment activities in reading and math. I will tailor a plan specific to your child's needs. References and background check are available. Will drive to you and communicate with your child's teacher. Thank you for your consideration!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I drive to the student's home to meet the family and make a plan of action.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned my bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Kansas State University in 1994. I also took graduate courses for special education at the University of KS and Kennesaw State University. I taught in a brick and morter school for 19 plus years (Kindergarten, First, Third and Fourth grades), have tutored children ages 5- 13, and homeschooled twins ( one with a processing disability). I have also worked with children that have ADD, ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia and BD. I have also had some training to teach ESL students and taught many ESL children during my years in the public school system.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $30 to $40 an hour. It depends on location and the number of times I meet with the child a week.
How did you get started teaching?
Due to my Father's influence, I grew up knowing I would become a teacher one day.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Am I willing to try my best? What areas am I struggeling in? Am I organized? Do I have a designatied time and quiet space to work outside of school? Is there someone outside of school that can any questions I may have about my assignments? Am I grasping the concept somewhat and just need extra practice to master the skill or do I need to go back to the basics ( review previously taught material) first?
