Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We normally will start with a pre-test to gauge where the students strength and weaknesses are if they are not currently in school. If they are in school then we review each subject briefly and then will help the student with the test reviews or homework that they might be struggling on.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Have gotten A's and/or 4 or 5's on AP exams in the following classes.
-APs: Human Geo, World History, Biology, English Literature and Language, Environmental, Psychology, Chemistry, Calculus AB and BC, US History, European History, American Government, Microeconomics.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Usually priced at $25/hour but am willing to accomodate if needed.
How did you get started teaching?
A friend needed their son tutored after school due to him being a bit rebelious and allowing his grades to drop to all Cs and Ds, so I took the job and worked with him every single day and we got his grades up to all A's and B's for last school year and then this school year we are starting strong with all A's!
What types of students have you worked with?
We have worked with 6-9th grade students of all intelligence and work ethics.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who can connect with you and is patient. The worst thing is when you cant understand something and the teacher just breezes by your concerns without explaining anything to you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What they are struggling with the most. One thing from the other side of the conversation, it is difficult to help someone when we do not know what they are struggling with. It is wasting the kids time reviewing things he/she knows and wasting the teachers time where it could be spent better helping the child.
