About
Hello! My name is Charlie Harper, and standarized tests such as the SAT and ACT are, quite simply, my jam. I love helping other people practice and learn the nuances of each test so that they can acheive their target score.
On the subject of credentials, I scored a perfect 36 on the ACT and scored within the top 2% on the SAT. Furthermore, I got a 5 on the AP US History Exam, the AP English Language Exam, and the AP Calculus AB Exam. I also am in advanced college Spanish after taking four years of Spanish in high school. I believe that with enough practice, anyone can get similar scores to mine, and I would love to help you on your test prep journey!
I just love the happiness that understanding material and growing as a student brings to people. Everything that I do with my work is to bring people to that happiness.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to ask a few preliminary questions about the students goals and the areas they struggle with, then I create a personalized study plan for the student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I trained for months to take the SAT and the ACT, and I have worked alongside teachers and counselors to improve my instruction methods for students at all levels.
How did you get started teaching?
I have been tutoring for years, but I recently started charging for my services. Furthermore, I taught a few English classes at the high school I went to, so I am well versed in teaching in both one-on-one sessions and classrooms.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with everyone from honors students in the top 10% of their class to students who were struggling to achieve average scores. No matter your initial skill level, I will do my best to help you get where you want to be.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Right now I am in multivariable calculus (a rather difficult class for me), and a few days ago I finally began to understand some challenging concepts in the course. That was certainly an event to be fond of.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you are unable to work with me, then I would make sure that whoever you are looking to hire has taken the ACT or SAT recently. The tests and their grading scales have changed quite drastically in the past few years, so it is very important that your instructor has up-to-date knowledge.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should definitely know their target score or their target school. That information helps tutors to plan for how best to help the student.
