About
I have been a math teacher at the middle school level for 5 years. I teach both special education and traditional students and am well versed in accommodations that help achieve learning goals. I love engaging with students and working to meet them at their level. My goal is for my students to gain the confidence that they CAN improve their math skills with practice. Sometimes all students need is another perspective on a difficult subject to have that lightbulb moment, and that is what I am here to offer!

Being able to work with children is such a true blessing. It can be very emotionally draining, but knowing that you are making the difference in the life of a child is not to be taken lightely. When I think back, I can remember all of my teachers and how they made me feel. I absolutely love making positive connections with my students that I know they will remember for their rest of their lives.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I like to assess where they are ability wise, then I work to fill in the gaps in their understanding that will help rise them to the level of completing work at their grade level.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education, and I am certified and highly qualified in Middle School Math, Special Education, and Art K-12.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge per the amount of time I spend teaching. If I meet with a student one hour per week I charge $60 per hour, if I work with a student for two hours per week I charge $45 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
My original degree was in Fine Art with a concentration in painting. After graduating and working as a manager in a Chuck E. Cheese, I realized how much i loved the training and teaching side of my job, and I truly enjoyed working with the teenagers on my staff so I decided to go back to school to become a teacher. I have now been teaching for 5 years at the middle school level and love it!
What types of students have you worked with?
special education students including but not limited to: students with intellectual disabilities, students with attention deficit disorders, students with social emotional disorders, and students on the spectrum.
English language learners
Traditional students
My experience in the classroom has been with students from grades 6-8
My experience tutoring has been with students grades 4-8
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Choose someone who is patient and who you feel motivated by. When you have a "win" in your classroom, whether that means a good grade, or otherwise, you should want to share that and celebrate that with your tutor. If you do not feel that way, your tutor probably isn't the right one for you!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Have I reread the question?
Do I understand what the question is asking of me?
Have I answered every part of the question?
Do I have notes or previous work I can look back on that might help me with this?
Before admitting defeat, have I done my best trying to solve this problem?
