I am a recent college graduate with 6 years of tutoring and proofreading experience. I was raised by an educator and learned firsthand the value in a compassionate and understanding teacher, and I love nothing more than sharing my knowledge with others. I studied at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, obtaining my B.Sc in International Relations and Politics with a minor in Business Administration. As an undergraduate student, I participated in a peer notetaker program which maintained helpful class notes for students with classroom accessibility challenges. I have maintained a proofreading and editing business for four years and provided 1:1 tutoring from 2014-2020 for various education levels.
My favorite part about tutoring is the quintesential "aha!" moment. I love to build connections for students between their real-world experiences and their curriculum and to create an understanding between the two.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first step in any good tutoring relationship is assessing goals and learning style. Does the student have specific learning goals to be addressed, such as preparing for standardized testing, or something more broad, like overall proficiency in the subject? Discovering a student's learning style is key-are they a visual learner where imagery may help, or would something more tactical serve them well?
We then set tangible and measurable goals as a team, and set markers in progress to make sure the student's learning remains on track. We can adapt or acclerate these goals to maintain the students' dynamic needs.
