I believe that kids learn best when they are able to truly connect with their tutors on a human level. I always try to have my students see me as a friend.
The issue facing many students today is the loss of the love of learning. I hope to make school fun again for my students, in order to restore that love and encourage them to pursue knowledge outside of our sessions. This way, I can make a lasting impact on the child's life far beyond our time working together.
In addition to helping my students with their schoolwork, I will provide external materials they can work on to further improve. I try to teach in a style where, rather than telling the kid what to do, I try to encourage them to teach me the problem, and then work to find and correct errors in their work.
I love working with kids, of course. I think that all the kids that I work with bring something different to the table; a different talent which helps them understand material in a different way. I love restoring the love of learning in a kid, which I believe is the most important trait for a kid to have.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I try to get to know the student, on a personal level. This allows me to really connect with them, and nurture a feeling of mutual respect. Next, I try to understand what level my student is working at. I never lecture, I encourage my student to try and teach the material to me. Then, I can find and correct errors. This creates a higher level of understanding, which I think is vital for improving in school.
