Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, my immediate goal is to build respect and rapport. From there, we will set goals, objectives, and a plan of action to meet them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently a teacher in Prince George's County. In addition to the county's required bi-quartly Professional Development classes, I am in a county sanctioned program for teachers in STEM that builds techniques for our pedagogy.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I am very flexible and like to work with my students/clients. I start at $20/hr. Prices may increase based on the needs of the student.
How did you get started teaching?
I have been tutoring since my years in high school. I started teaching through a Resident Teaching Program in Prince George's County. I decided to follow my dream and passion to be an educator.
What types of students have you worked with?
I currently teach 4th graders. I have tutored all ages from K to College Statistics.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
STEM Fairs are being turned in. It is a joy seeing all of the hard work and effort put in.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise a student to ask as many questions as possible and then ask more. It is not about having all of the answers but in what ways and techniques can be used/taught to find those answers.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How do I learn best as a student? Does this tutor offer the style of teaching that will best suite my needs?
