About
Tutoring is a collaborative effort! It takes work from both parties to get the most out of a session. That's why prior to meeting with students, I like to give a brief run down of the services I provide, as well as a list of materials I need before our first meeting.
I want to know your goals in learning/improving at English, as well as your current level of fluency with the language. Writing samples help me diagnose your current degree of comfortability!
Once I learn more about your experiences, I customize a learning outcomes plan that specifies both short-term and comprehensive goals - and a roadmap to get there - in order to maximize our time together.
I appreciate the range and diversity of people that I have been afforded to meet through tutoring. I have helped kids perform better at school and imbued confidence into adults for whom English was a second language. With my guidance, they grew to be able to communicate as effectively and professionally as possible at their jobs.

Frequently asked questions
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In high school, I received a perfect score on the English portion of the ACT national standardized test. I was also one of five students (out of 1400+) to be selected by the English department to compete in district-wide creative writing competitions.
I parlayed this command of the English language into a successful academic career in international relations at American University. AU boasts a top-10 program in the country for that major, which involved many hundreds of pages of essay-writing!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My lessons are priced according to the needs of the student and the amount of preparatory work I will need to do to provide the most value. Travel expenses are also assessed in the price of lessons, if applicable.
How did you get started teaching?
I come from a long line of teachers. I have two grandparents who were professors and one who was an editor at the Cambridge Press. My aunt is currently a professor and my mother received her Masters Degree in teaching English as a second language. I have utilized my experiences with my family to share my knowledge with dozens of my peers and students over the years.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with elementary, middle, and high schoolers; college students; and young professionals from Latin America. I am bilingual (Spanish).
