About

With a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and a Master of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, I feel comfortable tutoring in many science fields, including but not limited to: chemistry, biology, math, physics, and coding. Besides my expertise in these fields I have gained through academia, I have extensive experience in chemistry tutoring on the college level. I have done one-on-one tutoring for general chemistry and organic chemistry. I have been a Peer Assistance Leader (PAL), which is a group tutor who employs novel techniques to encourage critical thinking and collaboration, for chemistry courses and became Program Assistant for the PAL program my senior year. As a PAL tutor, I managed groups of upwards of 50 students at a time and as a PAL Program Assistant, I managed 6-8 other PAL tutors as well as constructed weekly meetings to evaluate and improve PAL performance. This has led me to develop advanced team-building and management skills, making me an excellent choice for students who have a hard time focusing.

As a college student, I also volunteered for English as a Second Language (ESL) programs in my surrounding city. I had the chance to work in groups with Vietnamese- and Spanish-speaking students of all ages as well as spending a semester doing one-on-one tutoring with a Portuguese-speaking man. I have taken several college-level Spanish and Arabic courses. As far as proficiency, I feel I have an intermediate understanding of Spanish and Arabic (Levantine dialect, with basic reading and writing skills) and a basic level of understanding of Korean, French, and Italian. I love to teach languages as much as I love to learn them, so I am able to put myself in the shoes of the student and connect with their struggles and triumphs.

Whether you choose to hire me for science or ESL tutoring, you can be assured that you will be getting an experienced and passionate tutor who loves the topics she teaches.

I get as much out the experience of tutoring as my students do. I enjoy discussing and spreading knowledge about academic topics but what really motivates me to tutor is improving the understanding of my students and seeing their eyes light up when they are able to start to grasp concepts on their own. I see myself as more of a mentor to students and am invested in their overall sucess. Being able to guide them in that journey to understanding gives me great joy.
