Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I work with a new student, I usually guage their prior knowledge. For me, this is important because that dictates what I should and should not teach them; I want to make sure that assistance is more focused on them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked in a volunteer virtual tutoring program and am certified to teach Computer Science and some Mathematics courses. They have given me experience on how to work with all kinds of students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing system is completely holistic, meaning that I usually get more specifications on what type of assistance they need before making a price that fairly reflects that assistance.
How did you get started teaching?
I was offered to tutor others under a National Honor tutoring progam and from my Chemistry, but it was when I started volunteer tutoring virtually, that I really started to learn how to teach.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all kinds of students as mentioned before. Regardless of their location on the world, or skill level, I have always reached out to them and helped them with whatever they struggled with.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event I am fond of was earning the 'Best of Tutors' title on this program. This title helps me recognize my skill in helping others, and it has motivated me even more to continue tutoring.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
A student should look for a teacher that has a friendly manner and will make them actively participate. They should also focus on a tutor who adheres their cirriciulum to them, meaning they should listen to what they need to learn.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should think about the teacher's level of expertise and their availability. A compatible teacher is one that can almost consistently meet with the student on an agreeable time and one that is proficient and not only show the correct answers, but explain the wrong answers too.
