I am a MD/PhD student at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (formerly known as Mount Sinai School of Medicine). I completed my PhD thesis on cancer biology and drug discovery in May 2018. I will be graduating from Medical school on May 2020.

While working on my graduate studies, I gained a lot of teaching opportunities. To list a few:

-I taught the unit on Biochemistry to first year medical students for 4 years.

-I tutored high school and college level chemistry

-I've helped multiple students prepare for REGENTS exam and AP exams in both chemistry and biology

What makes my teaching unique and successful is I identify as a lifetime student. So much of my own training has required independent learning, consequently I have had to create tools to breakdown topics, then apply to solving problems. I am able to identify with the student as a learner, and then by applying my skills as an educator, I can help them understand the materia.

Teaching is a huge passion of mine, and regardless where my career takes me post-graduation, I plan on incorporating educating my peers and students a priority.

I love meeting the variety of personalities and bonding with the students while together we overcome obstacles in their learning.

My favorite is watching them overcome these obstacles and gain confidence in the material. It is incredibly satisfying to witness as they slowly master the topic.

Every student's struggle is unique to them, and with every teaching experience, I learn too--I pick up new methods to better communicate a lesson and I figure out different ways to breakdown problems. So I also enjoy learning FROM my students.

    Frequently asked questions

My teaching style is highly interactive. We review the material taught in class, and I like to ensure my students understand it by answering questions and repeating the concepts back to me in their own words. We will draw out these concepts out and create study tools. I also like to supplement the topics with youtube videos and audio podcasts. I find that these can often take complicated and boring topics and make them interesting while showing real life application.

When I meet a new student, I first spend a moment to identify what they are precisely struggling with. And then I work to understand what their best learning style is. By getting to the root of the problem and the core of their learning style, I ensure our sessions are each the most effective. I value quality over quantity. If after a few sessions, the student feels we can reduce the frequency of our sessions, I will have felt I succeeded at my job.
