About

I homeschool my own children and love to help kids have hat lightbulb moment in their math journeys. My math experience is vast and at a high level, but I prefer to focus on helping kids "get it" at any point in their schooling where Herve become "stuck." I stand out by being able to work well with kids ages 8-18, talking to them in a way that makes them feel respected, understood, and confident in their own abilities.

I love to explain things in new and interesting ways that finally help a child grasp a difficult concept.

Frequently asked questions

A bit of a math lover as a child, I had taken all the math courses offered in my community through AP Calculus by the time I was 15, so I left for a college program for teenagers at the University of North Texas where I continued my studies in math, taking all Calculus II and III,Differntial Equations, and Linear Akgebra before I was 18. I then attended the US Naval Academy where I obtained a degree in Mathematics and went on to drive ships in the Navy. Before my Surface Warfare training in Newport, RI, I was an instructor at the Naval Academy Preparatory School, teaching College Algebra and Calculus.  After attending the Naval Nuclear Power School and Nuclear Power Training Unit, I qualified  as Engineering Officer of the Watch onboard an aircraft carrier. Training in the nuclear power community consisted of physics, chemistry, thermodynamics, and intense amounts of math. Since leaving the Navy, most of my tutoring has been for young students in the homeschooling community, tutoring through Calculus, as I homeschool my own children.
