Katie's Tutoring - Music, Math, And More!
About
Hi I'm Katie! I graduated summa cum laude with my Bachelor's Degree in Instrumental Music Education from East Tennessee State University last year and I'm currently pursuing my Master's at the Hartt School at the University of Hartford, where I hold a 4.0 GPA. I am a certified K-12 teacher and I have been working one-on-one with students for almost 10 years. I specialize in music instruction but I also have experience in most other subjects, include math, writing, Spanish, and SAT prep. I have also worked with multilingual students on a variety of subjects.
I am a performing trombonist and music educator in the Hartford area with many years of experience both performing and teaching music and related subjects. My specialties are brass instruction (trombone, trumpet, euphonium, tuba), music history, and music theory.
I began as a writing tutor when I was in high school and have since helped many more students (from middle school through college and beyond) with their papers, as well as written numerous papers myself, most around 10 pages in length and multiple over 30 pages. Not only did I write quite a few papers for my Bachelor's Degree, but I am constantly writing papers to complete my Master's Degree, too. Currently, I am working on editing one of my 30+ page papers for submission for publication.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When starting with a new student, I always like to take a little time to get to know them, talk to them about what their goals are and what they would like to get out of their tutoring experience, and start creating a plan for how we can reach those goals together.

How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching because I love helping people. This blossomed into a love for both learning and teaching, too. Working with students is always an incredibly rewarding experience.
