Middle/High School Math And Science Tutoring
About
My background in creative arts and education give me a unique perspective when it comes to explaining STEM concepts. My experience includes being a university-level teaching assistant and a dance teacher (Pre-K to 12) in addition to one-on-one tutoring.
I want to get to know and cater to you and your learning style. Every brain is different, so sometimes you need a different approach to a problem with a different person. I can be that person!
My goal isn't to help you find the answer to one specific problem. My goal is to give you the tools you need to solve all similar problems.
My goal is to help you understand concepts so that, in the future, you can help yourself.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I learn about your study habits, learning style, and personality. This will help me plan our time more effectively.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rochester. For three years, I was a teaching assistant for the department in the intro course, thermodynamics, and heat & mass transfer.
In high school I was a dance teacher in Natick, MA.
I have been tutoring since high school.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$20/half hour
$35/hour
How did you get started teaching?
From an early age, I loved helping out at the dance studio and helping friends and classmates with homework. This led to teaching at the dance studio and teaching friends and classmates in an official role.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages (4-20+)
With and without learning disabilities, but no specific training for this
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My favorite events to witness as a teacher are those "aha!" moments where something has clicked into place
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't settle! You might need to try a couple people to find a good fit.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What, specifically isn't working? Is it the teaching environment? Teaching style? Instead of "I don't get it" try "I don't understand why vectors have two arrows."
You could ask your teacher to go a little slower in class, or to have more interactive teaching by playing games or quizzing students to keep them focused.
