What is your typical process for working with a new student?

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
20+ years working with students in various grade levels, from various backgrounds helping them accomplish their goals. 12 of those years has been working mostly with high school students who are from many international locations such as China. S. Korea, Germany & Spain.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Base price is $25 per hour to assist with troubled spots in a student’s general knowledge of a subject.
if a student is non-native English speaking, has had the material before but simply does not understand the teaching methods, pricing is $35/hour
if a student is studying in the US for the first time, has never had the subject before (I.e. religion/history) then the pricing for the first 4-8 lessons is $50/hour until such a time the student comprehends the basics of the course/language.
How did you get started teaching?
it was always in my nature to help studebts, then it became my passion. Subsequently tutoring became a way of life, especially the last 12 years.

Boys & girl’s ranging in age from 12-20 from multiple countries such as China, S. Korea, Spain & Germany
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I enjoyed spending two weeks with a father from China while we got him prepared to go to school in the USA! We had great times together and will visit again very soon.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you know exactly what it is you need help with, and never worry about something sounding “silly”. Everyone has to learn at sometime in life, so be proud of where you are and excited about where you can be led by your tutor!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
It is often best to know what you truly do not know. It is a waste of time if you ask questions that do not pertain to your actual course of studies.
