Nihongo Tutoring
About
I am a native speaker of Japanese. I was born and raised in Yokohama City, Japan and lived there for the first 39 years of my life. I have lived in the U.S. for the last 7 years since 2013. In Japan, I studied literature in college and earned my BA in English and American literature.
After graduation, I taught English in Japan as a high school English teacher. My average class size in Japan was 40.
When I moved to the U.S., I taught Japanese at a private high school in San Francisco for the Fusion Academy. At Fusion Academy, the class size is one-on-one style, so it is much more intensive and a faster pace or adjustable for a student's pace since I did not have to consider any other students in the room.
My background is not just being fluent in Japanese, but also as an educator that understands the intricacies of a complex language comparing Japanese to English plus and the process of teaching a challenging subject to my students.
I became a teacher because I like to learn and pass on my knowledge to my students. For me language is alive. I thoroughly enjoy the process by which my students discover new ideas and conquer new subject matter. I always wanted to be a teacher since I was a child, and my love of books was always first on my mind so this led me to become a teacher. Living in America I now have the space to expand my American/English literature collection. I am an avid reader of classic and modern literature.
