About
For as long as a can remember I have loved mathematics. And since I was young, I have loved teaching. My whole goal as an educator is to help students understand the 'why' behind the math we do because I believe that if we know why then the how comes.
I believe mistakes and the recognition and correction of those mistakes help us truly learn and that EVERYONE can learn and understand math. We all have different levels of experience with math. If given more experience and the right tools, everyone can be a Mathematician.
The best thing about tutoring math is the opportunity it gives me to explore and facilitate learning with students. I love helping students find their "ah-ha" moments in math. And I love to witness those moments happen over and over again as new knowledge is gained and understood!
I love math and want to share that love and the excitement I have about it with others!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If the student has curriculum they are working from, I typically start where they are and fill in the knowledge gaps as we go along.
If the student doesn't have a particular curriculum they are working on, then I will find and suggest curriculum for them and begin working with them from the beginning.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Brigham Young Univerity in 2006 with a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics Education. I have tutored students starting in high school and have done so continuously since the. I have tutored math for elementary school students, pre-algebra, algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, pre-calculus, trigonometry, and Calculus. I also taught from 2006-2008 at a middle school teaching math, 2013-2019 teaching math online, 2019-2020 teaching part time math at a middle school. I hold current teaching licenses in Colorado and Utah.

How did you get started teaching?
From a very young age, I knew I wanted to teach. I also gained a great love and passion for math from my first grade teacher and all the teachers that followed. When I was in my Algebra 2 class in HS watching one of my awesome math teachers teach, I decided that is what I wanted to do with the rest of my life! And so I am!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with elementary students, middle school, and high school students. I have tutored math from arithmetic up to Calculus! I have tutored homeschooled students, public, private, and charter school students as well. I enjoy it all!
