Double Dash Tutoring
About
I focus on helping students understand underlying and related topics, rather than enforcing rote memorization or mimicking of processes. Not only does this help students be successful with the task at hand, but also helps lay the foundation for learning how to learn and for developing problem solving skills. These lessons will help students excel in all of their academic pursuits.
Regarding my experience and qualifications, I was the Valedictorian of my 550 person high school graduating class, I hold a B.S. in Engineering, and I have a year of experience tutoring calculus and seven years of experience in my field. I developed a wide range of tools to achieve my academic success and I find value in the opportunity to share these tools with my students.
I enjoy being able to share my passion for math and my organizational skills with my students to help them find satisfaction in their schoolwork.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Ensuring an alignment of expectations between my student and myself is a critical component to establishing a successful teacher/student relationship. Before diving into technical topics, I prefer to engage the student in a conversation about their goals, both in the short term and the long term, so we can be sure that we are working towards their objectives.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and have been working in a variety of fields, including aerospace, automotive, and consumer products, for seven years.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked primarily with high school and college aged students, but I look forward to engaging with students of all ages.
