What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I call them to schedule a time and see their learning style, after which I adjust my material for them.
After the first session, which is free, the student and I discuss what they liked, disliked and what they need going further.

I have a Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering, I have taught students for 2 years and worked in 2 research laboratories.

Look for a teacher who understands your learning style.

A student needs to ask themselves, what are they really struggling with and be honest about it.
