I have worked in elementary schools for 9 years, and have a master's degree in education from the Relay Graduate School of Education. I hold a teaching certificate with the state of Colorado with an endorsement to teach grades K-6. I currently work as an English teacher to children in China via an online platform.

In a public school setting, I have worked as a classroom teacher and a tutor for small groups, ranging from 3-5 students. I have experience working with grades from Kindergarten to 5th. I am fluent, and have taught in, Spanish. I have extensive experience teaching reading, writing, math, science, ESL, and phonics.

My favorite aspect of teaching is the challenge of making learning a game! I have many games in my "bag of tricks." For instance, I have board games which teach phonics skills. I have puzzles which help reinforce addition and telling time. Students love to play "splat" where they get to splat the letters and numbers from the day's objectives with a fly swatter. I have made many of my own board games and continue to dream up new ways to challenge and excite students! Distance learning brings new opportunities for me to create new games and I am completely up to the challenge!

I love working one-on-one with students because it gives me the opportunity to get to know students and watch them learn. I'm able to differentiate the lesson to fit the individual student's needs and interests completely. I have experience and training in differentiating lessons for a classroom, but it can never match the level of personalization you are able to give to a lesson with an individual student. Working one-on-one with students, you see their personalities come out and a love of learning return to their hearts. This is an exciting process that I love being a part of!
