Hi! My name is Amber. I'm a former elementary school teacher with 15 years experience teaching in public schools (7 of those years teaching first grade) and an extra 5 in tutoring grades pre-K through high school.

I can totally help your kiddos!

My approach to teaching is friendly and encouraging. After meeting and chatting with you, I will do an informal assessment to tailor my instruction to their individual needs. I always take into account the mindset of the students I encounter, and help them to realize that they are not only capable, but amazing!

I have the Saxon Phonics program (very similar to, and uses the same progression as Orton-Gillingham), and generally approach reading instruction in a evidence based manner. I have used the program in teaching first through third grade. I also have experience as a reading interventionist. I like to use a multi sensory approach, especially in math. I have base ten blocks to use for math concepts.

I am comfortable tutoring any age and can help your child get back into the groove with individualized instruction and encouragement.
