About
As a former middle school math and science teacher in both public and private schools, I have experience teaching in a classroom setting as well as one-on-one tutoring in many different subjects and grade levels. As a 2013 Teach For America corps member, I was selected as one of 5,900 from 40,000 applicants to join a national teacher corps of leaders who commit two years to teach in under-resourced public schools. I not only earned the highest teacher effectiveness rating (Level 5), but also led students to achieve the highest growth on the end-of-year state standardized test of any 6th grade math teacher in the Shelby County School district.
I believe that every student can be successful. I think tutoring is just as much about building confidence and critical thinking skills as it is about the subject matter. I love designing lesson plans and curricula to help students reach their goals. I also enjoy coming up with creative ways to explain difficult concepts to students.
