Private Tutoring

I recently earned my MA in English from the University of Colorado Boulder after completing my undergraduate degree in English with an emphasis in writing and composition at Xavier University. My academic background includes literary analysis, rhetoric, academic writing, reading comprehension, and cultural rhetorics research, and I have extensive experience teaching and mentoring students in both classroom and one-on-one settings.

What I love most about tutoring is helping students build confidence in their own abilities. Many students come into English and writing feeling intimidated or convinced they are “bad” at reading, analysis, or essays. I enjoy helping students realize that these skills can absolutely be learned with the right support, guidance, and practice. Watching students become more confident thinkers and communicators is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

My teaching approach is flexible and individualized because every student learns differently. Some students want quick, focused support on assignments or test preparation, while others want deeper help developing long-term reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. I adapt lessons to each student’s goals, learning style, and pace while creating an encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

I work with students across a wide range of ages and experience levels, including middle school, high school, college, and adult learners. I offer support in English, literature, rhetoric and composition, essay writing, grammar, reading comprehension, research papers, and academic confidence-building.

Students and families often appreciate that I combine strong academic standards with a patient, approachable teaching style. My goal is not only to help students improve grades and assignments, but also to help them feel more capable, confident, and engaged in their learning overall.
