About
Students deserve to have friendly, patient, and helpful tutors who are prepared and proficient. That's the kind of service I look to provide in a way that's affordable and accessible to a wide variety of students. I offer in-person tutoring as well as online tutoring for students who live far away or find it to be most convenient.
I have been tutoring professionally since 2012. I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Computer Science. Being part of the school of Engineering and Applied Sciences, I took several math courses as well. After working 8 years in the corporate world, I realized that what I really enjoy most is learning and helping others to learn. As a tutor, I am doing just that, and it has been great.
I enjoy helping others to learn and developing good working relationships with students. I always look forward to the challenge of finding the best way to break down concepts into simple parts, communicating in the simplest terms, and empowering students with the knowledge and resources they need.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to discuss the individual needs of each student to make sure we're on the same page about what kind of help they are looking for and what I can provide. If it's a good match, we can then schedule a face-to-face session at a public place that works for both of us. For online sessions, I will email the student a link to the online collaboration tool that I use and they can simply open it up in a web browser, upload any documents they would like to share, and begin the tutoring session at our agreed-upon time.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been tutoring professionally since 2012, both in-person and in a fast-pace online environment. I have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder school of Engineering and Applied Sciences. I took several math classes in that program and graduated with a 3.8 GPA.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes. I charge $35/hour for in-person tutoring. To travel more than 5 miles from my zip code, I charge $2/mile extra. For online tutoring, I charge $30/hour prorated.
How did you get started teaching?
After several years in corporate America, I thought about what I wanted to do most with my life and decided on education. Tutoring has been the most rewarding career I have ever had.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages (10 - 50) and abilities. I usually work one-on-one but have tutored in groups and with small classes as well. I'm happy to work with anyone as long as they are honest and respectful.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I helped a student overcome their doubts about being able to pass College Algebra, which was the last of the classes required for their degree. The student invited me to his graduation party and we laughed about it and had a great time!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would encourage students to think about what they expect from their tutor and to be communicative. Any good tutor will be happy to listen and be clear about his/her policies and areas of expertise.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should have an idea of how much they are willing to budget for tutoring and how much time they are willing to spend in and outside of tutoring sessions to learn the material.
