About

I enjoy teaching others math and how it is applicable in the real world. I teach how to apply the concepts of math into everyday situations. It's not just memorizing how to do a problem, but understanding how and why it works. Math is difficult for a lot of people and they are generally terrified of math, but my teaching style creates confidence to complete any math problem.

I am a project engineer for a general contractor, which involves a ton of math. I work with money, dimensions, calculations, schedules and decide where to allocate limited resources.

All of the basic math principles are used on a day to day basis. A lot of my job requires me to explain the math behind decisions and teaching others how and why we make those decisions.

Frequently asked questions

I first get to know the student to build trust.  I learn about the srudent's likes and dislikes and cater my teaching based on those values. I identify skill level and problem areas based on a few simple math problems.

I have always been intersted in math.  I have a masters of engineering degree which has developed my math skills in many different areas.  I constantly work with others explaining math concepts and teaching real-world applications while at my job as a project engineer.  I have tutored fellow students during my years in school.

I offer a free first lesson.  Thereafter, if you choose to stay with me as your tutor, I have a flat fee of $50 per hour.

I've always been teaching, but not formally in a classroom.  I have always helped friends, family and fellow students and colleagues when I can.

I have worked with elemantary to college age students as well as working professionals.

Find a teacher that is excited about teaching and who gets the student excited by applying it to the real world and interests of the student.  The teacher should make the student comfortable and build trust and confidence in the material.

The main thing students should think about is what they want to get out of the tutoring sessions.  Build specific goals, like getting an A on the next test or for the semester in a particular subject.  The goals need to be quantifiable so that we can measure your success.
