About

I'm an experienced instructor and learning consultant with over ten years in secondary and higher education. I tailor my lessons to all: middle-school aged kids, high schoolers, college students, businesspeople, and retirees. Unlike other French-language tutors in the area, I am also proficient in technical French, so I can not only plan lessons for general travel, communication, and business purposes, but I can teach French for Specialized Purposes. I also offer tutoring in Latin and Greek and consulting on learning platforms in both English and French. The theme of my business is versatility in a fast-paced technological market.

I love teaching French because I love languages. For me, they're a puzzle that not only provide intellectual stimulation, but moreover a social connection with other people and businesses. Languages open doors to new worlds and new ways of thinking. Teaching French allows me to be a guide to new worlds for others.

I'm also a very goal-oriented person, so I am always excited whenever I help a client meet their personal and professional goals. My lessons are always tailored to the client and their individual learning styles and needs.

Frequently asked questions

The first lesson is the opening discussion and inventory with the student: I assess their level (if appropriate), discuss their goals, create a month-long plan to meet those goals in small ways, and then give the student a smaller lesson that resembles what I will do throughout the month.  Students always have input in my lessons, so if there is a topic or skill that he/she would like or needs to learn, I do my best to address it right away.  I emphasize speaking, so I try to get the student to say 3-5 words at the bare minimum after the first day.  By one month, it's easily 20-50 words.

After a month, I conduct an evaluation and discuss with the student his/her plans.  Some of my contracts are fixed at 10-12 lessons, so they end when the clients say so.  But those who choose to continue do so at this point.  I always ask for 1-3 month commitments, 1-2 times per week to see the best results.
