Hope is a great tutor for people with learning disabilities. She is patient and knows how to simplify information. She’s great at teaching me study habits that make me so much more confident about passing my massage license test. She’s always punctual, eager and kind.

During our son’s Junior Year in high school we wanted to hire a tutor to help him improve his writing. We were astounded to see the extent to which his research, writing, editing, and writing voice developed during his year of tutoring with Hope. She is engaging and encouraging while skillfully directing the student’s process. Her humor and enjoyment of the process really creates a relaxed and positive learning environment for the student. As a parent who has hired many tutors over the years, it’s such a relief to find someone who communicates promptly, professionally, and consistently. I would highly recommend her services!

We have had a wonderful experience working with Hope over the past year. She has created a tailored approach to working with our daughter to improve her skills in reading, writing, handwriting, and general comprehension. Their sessions are lively and engaging and a great part of our week, and were seeing our child grow her skillset in these areas as well as her confidence to be able to read books she finds interesting and express her ideas as an author and illustrator with great joy!

Frequently asked questions

I start out by getting to know my student and finding what they'd like to accomplish literarily. In my editing process I insist on maintaining my client's voice (and humor) while at the same time bringing out a more polished, often less wordy version. I'm also a teacher so when we go over my edited version I explain what I've done and why. This includes introducing new vocabulary as well as teaching my students some basic principles that will improve their writing skills not only for what we're currently working on but for any of their future writing endeavors.

I have a B.A. in Creative Writing and Literature. I've edited books, professional papers and published twenty five articles for a magazine out of the Hamptons in N.Y. I've taken a graduate narrative writing course
through Stanford University as well as an editing course at D.U. and received a 4.0 from both.

My fee is $45. per hour.
