Jim's Adventure Tutoring
About
With extensive experience in outdoor education and self-education models, I know how to keep any subject engaging and productive. My education started in public school , transformed into self education during highschool, and has continued with involvement in the Montessori and homeschool communities. I'm currently a Rock Climbing Guide and it's a blast.
Watching growth in the abilities and knowledge of my fellow humans gives me hope about the future of our species. I have a strong teaching instinct and empathize strongly with my students' victories. Teaching rock climbing has been my favorite job yet, because climbing limit's are %90 mental, and I'm excellent at helping clients through the challenge of facing their fear.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Introductions are important. Standardly, I'll learn a student's basic info and goals while looking for a common interest to note. As I move forward, the next prionities are to form a plan for the student's progress and better learning what areas of educational practice are best to focus on.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've taught in homeschool co-ops and in the outdoors. I've trained staffs in outdoor education programs. I currently teach climbing to youth and adults. I've held WFR and CPR/AED certifications.
