Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would like to see the syllabus for the class you are taking first to make sure it is a class I can help you with. I'd set up a schedule for when and how often you'd like to meet. And I would want to talk to you about how you feel about the class, how you feel about tutoring, what you think you need, and your expectations. I'd also hope to make it clear that we could discuss these expectations or our schedule again whenever you need to!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's and master's in chemistry and a doctorate in chemical education. I taught general and intro chemistry and biochemistry classes as a graduate teaching assistant for 6 years. I teach chemistry classes now. I have tutored people in science and math courses on and off for about a decade.
What types of students have you worked with?
High school and undergraduate students studying chemistry, math, or biochemistry. I have also worked with middle and elementary students at tutoring centers
