About
I have experience in tutoring reading and math of all ages. I am a licensed teacher and special ed teacher. I help students who are homeschooled and in public school. Math is not taught the way many of us were taught in school. My goal is to keep kids enjoying and understanding math while relieving pressure from parents. Learning a whole new system is not feasible to most parents with multiple children and working. Leave it up to me to help your student not only do their schoolwork but to also understand what they are doing and apply it.

I love teaching Math. As a kid I always loved math and the love continued to develop in college where I participated in many math competitions and was the top tested math student on campus. I love seeing the light in the kids eyes as they finally "get it!" That is the most rewarding moment to me as an educator. For most students it's building the confidence in order to apply the knowledge they have learned.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first session with students and their families is a meet and greet virtually with no cost. I also will ask questions of what students love and dislike in math. Knowing interests that can be applied will help me with my process. I will go over different math problems with students and see if we can identify a common link to their misunderstandings in math.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently finishing my degree in elementary education and special education with a specialty in mathematics. I also worked 3 years in a school with students who struggled in math and reading skills and have been tutoring students in math and English in private and group sessions for the last 4 years.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a variety of students some who loved math and others who disliked math. I have taught students with a variety of IEP's including students with dyslexia, autism, and Down syndrome.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I run into students I used to tutor on occasion and all of them thank me for the time I spent tutoring them and tell me they are excelling in math courses now because the time I spent with them to understand the basics and be able to move forward and enjoy math.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Most that dislike math or find math difficult lack the confidence of performing math functions. Finding a tutor that you feel comfortable, can make the process fun, and build your confidence will allow the barriers to break down allowing you to retain and confidently use the skills to continue on your math journey is key.
