About
I’m Nicole Tellez, and I’ve been an English Language Development teacher for 23 years. I hold a BA from San Diego State in Education and a Masters in Education in Cross Cultural Education from National University. I currently work as an ELD teacher at Stem School Highlands Ranch and I work with students in grades K-12; as well as their families. I lived abroad in Mexico City for 11 years and became fluent in Spanish. During that time, I worked with adults with their English language. As a 2nd language learner myself, I understand the challenges of becoming proficient in a 2nd language. When working with my students and adults, I believe that learning new vocabulary is key & it needs to be embedded in one’s learning; as well as making connections to one’s experiences. Working with all of my students still brings me great joy and I feel that I learn so much from them as well!
