Hello families! Since I was a teenager, I have been working with kids. I babysat for multiple families starting when I was 12. Then, during summer days in highschool, I volunteered at a camp for kids with a variety of disabilities. After earning an English Literature degree in college, I worked as a teacher's assistant in elementary schools for 5 years. Then, once I received my Master's in Speech-Language Pathology, I spent over 20 years as a Speech-Language Pathologist. The first 11 years, I worked with a wide variety of kids and helped them navigate school. I always included fun ways for them to learn because I knew it wasn't easy or fun for them. So many kids have other strengths that can be tapped into when you find out more about them. My own daughter is extremely smart, but needed other ways of learning as well. So, I worked hard to generate other ways of teaching her including: acting like some specific people in history for her to guess who they were, writing math facts on the trampoline in chalk for her to solve math problems, and my favorite: my husband and I set up a "Shark Tank" where she had to convince us of her project idea and why we should help her with it; since she was resistant to starting it. This helped her to be creative and more invested and motivated.

I have always loved working with kids! I'm a mom too and I know first hand the frustrations of my own child struggling in school. I would love to help you with that!

As a Speech Therapist, I received many hours of training in literacy and even created my own materials using Lindamood-Bell techniques. I think learning should be fun and I enjoy coming up with new ways to help a child learn.
