Jo Khatavkar, Licensed Teacher
About
I have been a Special Education teacher with Denver Public Schools for 6 years and an English teacher abroad for 7 years. I am currently licensed to teach all K-6 school subjects and ages 5-21 for special education services.
I like to keep my students through calmness, open-mindedness, and some humor.
My wait time and patience are of expert level!
I love seeing my students learn something that they had struggled with for awhile. Helping students take pride in and ownership of their own learning is what makes this job worth it.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to do an age-appropriate self-inventory either online or on paper to get a sense of student perspective and interests. To gage the student's level of ability in the subject, we would do a screener or short informal assessment. This process would be quick and we could then begin the assignment on the same day.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm currently a licensed teacher in Colorado. I also have extensive experience with online and blended learning. I have my Google Educator Level II certification as well.
