About
I firmly believe that every student can learn, but not every student will learn at the same rate or in the same way. I tailor instruction to meet the learning needs of each individual student.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I base my instruction off of each client's goals. Sometimes, this means I help with homework in a specific subject. Sometimes, this means I begin by working on good study habits and organizational skills, then moving on to creating a study plan. For many students, I begin by running an assessment to find specific areas of strength and specific weaknesses. Then, the student, the student's parents, and I work together to determine specific learning goals, and I develop activities to help students meet those goals
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's degree in English with a focus on the teaching of writing.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $25 for homework help type sessions, where the client comes to me with specific goals and provides the majority of the materials to work on. I'm still happy to supplement materials occasionally for these types of lessons!
For lessons where I assess, write goals, plan lessons, and teach new concepts, I charge $35 an hour. I provide learning materials for these types of lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
I've wanted to be a teacher since I was in elementary school! I love helping people be their best selves, and I'm fascinated by the way that people learn and grow. I've been a teacher in a classroom setting as well, but I particularly like working with students one-on-one or in small groups because it lets me really see how they shine.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with many types of students. I've worked with students as young as three, and I've worked with students who are adults seeking to further their educations. I've worked with neurodivergent students with ADHD, autism, and sensory processing disorder, with mental health concerns including bipolar disorder and severe anxiety disorders, students with learning disabilities, and students with intellectual disabilities ranging from mild to severe. Everyone can learn, and everyone deserves the opportunity to learn.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I'm helping a student who struggles to write but who LOVES to read. She particularly loves to read fantasy stories, so we're writing a fantasy story. This morning, she showed me a map of her invented world, which she'd colored and labeled. She'd written careful descriptions of each place as well. She was so proud!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone you feel comfortable enough with to be yourself, but who can challenge you to grow. You want someone who makes you feel confident that you can achieve great things, but also someone who expects those things from you, and who's willing to help you out until you get there.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What's unique about your situation? What do I need to know to understand you and how to help you learn?
What made you decide it was time to get some outside help?
What are your biggest areas of concern?
What are your biggest strengths? We can use those to help you grow.
What's the most important thing you want to get from working with a tutor?
