Flatirons Tutoring is an asset to our community and we would highly recommend using this service for SAT/ACT prep or any specific subject support. Our high school senior worked with Cris in math, reading, and science to bolster his current course performance and prepare for college entrance exams. We saw growth in our sons confidence, ability, and scores which enabled him to be competitive when applying for scholarships and colleges. Although first reluctant to spend the money and time on a tutoring service, we are grateful to have found Cris and realize it was well worth the investment!

We had a great experience with this program and would highly recommend!! My son was coming off a rough year of high school due to Covid restrictions and really regressed on his math. He was in Honors math and struggling mightily. Cris worked with him on a weekly basis and built his foundational knowledge back up to the point where hes in AP Calculus in this final year of HS and averaging over a 95 with a 100 on a couple of tests! I credit this Cris program with understanding how my son thinks and works and setting up a study plan that catered to his strengths.

We have had a great experience working with Chris and Amy. They have worked with our daughter as needed over the last 2 years. Our daughter doesn’t like to ask for help if she doesn’t understand concepts but she never gets intimidating working with them. Thanks for the consistent and professional service and always understanding you are working with kids.

Cris has done a fabulous job of tutoring Algebra 2 to my daughter. It is her least confident subject and Cris has done a great job teaching her the concepts in a way that my daughter can easily understand. She really enjoys working with him.

Cris Chacon has provided invaluable support to our daughter over the past 4 years. We adopted our daughter from Nepal in 2019. She was 13 years old and spoke very little English. There were large gaps in her understanding of basic mathematical concepts. She especially struggled with word problems. Fortunately, she had Cris as her 9th grade Algebra I teacher. He helped her tremendously that year. We started private tutoring lessons and SAT preparation with him the following year. Cris has really helped our daughter to fill in the gaps in her previous education and to gain more confidence in math.

We recently helped a student prepare for the SAT, helping her maximize her score to earn entry into her dream college and also earn scholarship money. We used the College Board practice tests and targeted instruction to help identify areas to improve, teach techniques to properly manage time, simulate taking the test, and develop strategies for each section and question type. This took about two months of work over the summer, around 10 sessions total where we met once a week. Her scores jumped by over 120 points!

Work with someone dedicated to helping you meet your specific needs and goals in an efficient way, while also developing student autonomy. The best teachers and tutors don’t let students rely on them, but instead teach them how to think, solve problems, study well, and how to learn best.

Have you had experience teaching someone similar to my student? How will you build trust and rapport with my student? How can I ensure you are reliable and can meet my needs?
