DREAM Literacy

Hello! My name is DeShawna and I’m the founder of DREAM Literacy. I’m a certified Reading Specialist and Orton-Gillingham–trained educator with a passion for helping students grow into confident, capable readers and writers.

Working with me is all about partnership, encouragement, and progress. I take a personalized, diagnostic approach to instruction—meaning I meet each student exactly where they are, and build from there using a structured, systematic, and responsive plan. My lessons are multisensory, explicit, and grounded in the Science of Reading, which is especially helpful for learners with dyslexia, speech and language delays, or those who simply need extra support.

At DREAM Literacy, my goal is to make learning engaging and meaningful. I offer one-on-one instruction that is clear, supportive, and tailored to each learner’s needs—whether we’re building foundational skills like phonemic awareness and decoding, or working on spelling, fluency, grammar, and writing.

I believe that with the right tools, encouragement, and instruction, every learner can thrive—and I’d love to help your child do just that.
