About
I have been a tutor for college level refugees in San Diego via the International Rescue Committee for 6 months. I helped students with their humanities courses, math, and biology.
I also was a Instructional Assistant for Cell Biology at the University I graduated from, which was University of California, San Diego. I was able to faciliate my own classroom for a quarter and engaged students to help reinforce their learning through my interactive teaching style so that they were able to succeed and enjoy biology as much as I do.
Finally, I was an afterschool tutor at The Preuss School in La Jolla for about 6 months and helped a diverse group of students with their english and math homework and worked on their skills to improve their grade in their class.
As a student, I know how challenging it is to succeed in a difficult class and that it is a struggle to get the help you need. I allow my students to communicate their needs to me and tailor my teaching based on their learning style. I try to go at a slow pace and make sure my students understand the concepts I am teaching before moving on. I care about my students and want to make sure they succeed and begin to fall in love with the process of learning and how to tackle difficult problems independently. Seeing a student improve is very rewarding and I love to help my students in any way that I can.
